Outings and Events for P2
Our Assembly
by Peter M

We had an Assembly.  It was all about feelings.  To make it more exciting we did Snow White and Seven dwarves and I bet the whole school enjoyed it. (but poor Rory, he got horrid plasters on his back!)  Before that people in P2 were talking about how they were feeling that morning.  Sam felt excited because of the assembly and Heather said she was happy because her mum gave her cakes for her snack.  Owen felt grumpy because he couldn't go to school or even Beavers!  Freya felt excited like Sam because of the assembly.  Oh and by the way the names of the dwarves are Dopey, Sneezy, Sleepy, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy and I hope everybody enjoyed it.

November 17th

Next week is book week and what a busy week it is! On Tuesday we will be sharing our favourite books with our chums so please send in a few books they can read together. On Wednesday Simon Puttock is coming in to speak to us about the craft of being an author. He will be discussing some of his books and reading extracts. It is also our enterprise evening where you get the chance to come and purchase the fabulous goods we've been making in class. Ours will have an eco theme and something to challenge you.... On Thursday it's the book week assembly and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's costumes. Remember the theme this year is bears but if you don't have a bear costume please come along as your favourite character.

November 10th

It was great to have a chat to you all on parent's night and I hope you enjoyed seeing the progress your children have made already this year. Some parents felt they would benefit from a sheet of reading ideas to make reading books more challenging so if anyone else would like a copy just write a note in the reading record and I'll send it to you.
Well done to the P3s who put on a fabulous assembly today all about the senses. Their story about Little Red Riding Hood had a very clear message as well: be careful of strangers and use your common sense! We have stared our next topic and we have begun a fabulous wall display of the Hodgeheg's garden, (Number 5A) and the park where all the lovely foodstuffs live. I'm sure if you asked the P2s would be able to tell you what hedgehogs really love to eat...and what happens if they try to cross a busy road. Poor Auntie Betty. How do people manage to cross the road without getting squashed?
In maths next week we will be learning about counting money in preparation for our stall on book night and our sound of the week in class is 'ff'. If anyone has any objects or pictures with the 'ff' sound please bring them in. On Friday Karen's tutor will be visiting and I hear there's a lot of excitement about the PTA Disco - I hope you all have a great time.

November 3rd

Welcome back everyone and I hope you have had a good break. It's great to hear all the stories about what happened over the holidays. I would like to say a big welcome to Miss Karen Dodgson who is a student from Edinburgh University and is joining us for 5 weeks this term - so will be here until the end of November. We will be covering 2 topics this term, starting with the Hodgeheg which is a road safety topic based on the book by Dick King Smith. We will be starting next week by reading about and creating our hedgehog family and the story setting on our display. We are also looking forward to the P3 assembly on Thursday. I hope they enjoy the experience as much as we did! I look forward to seeing you all again on parent's night.
