| P5 trip to the Botanic Gardens by Ruth When all the class went on a school trip to the Botanic gardens we were explorers. We went to the first part of the rainforest and we were told to find mini bananas, vanilla pods, biggest drip trip and the strangler fig. After a while we managed to find all of them. Then we moved onto the next bit of the rainforest and saw a baby tree who was only 200 years old and we saw a piece of bamboo. It had brown triangles nearer the top of it but don’t touch it because it will give you hairy hands. If you touch it accidentally the best way to get it off is to use sellotape and put it on and then pull it back off, Just when we were about to leave, Abbie spotted a frog and it was brown with black spots. Then we went to another big green house and there was a big pond and there were huge lilypads. ![]() |

Next week is going to be another exciting week as it is Book Week. We are lucky enough to have Allan Burnett, who writes the "And All That" books visiting on Monday. Tuesday is going to be very busy ensuring that we are fully prepared for Wednesday evening and the Book Fair. If you have a few spare minutes please come along. There are many bargains to be had and the children have put a lot of effort into their enterprise activity.
We will of course be trying to follow our usual timetable but it will have a Book Week twist.
The other main item to remember is that I am really looking forward to listening to the children perform their class talk. Please remember that my school laptop is getting on a bit so if your child is doing a power point presentation please save it at home as an older version of Windows, e.g. Windows 98 or Windows XP but not Vista as it will not run.

Thank you for attending Parents' night. Meeting new parents and reacquainting myself with others to share your child's successes was a pleasure.
Next week we will be spending some time on our Enterprise activity. The cards we are making will be on sale on Book Night (Wed 19th) so do save a few pence to spend on our stall. The money will go towards saving an area of the Rainforest.
Other highlights include
Mon: Literature Circles, spelling homework given out, maths
Tues: Spanish, PE, library, Big, Big Choose and ICT
Wed: Literature Circles, Maths, Art
Thurs: Maths, assembly, problem solving
Fri: Spell check, mental maths, music, Golden Time
As you see...busy, busy, busy.
