Day 1 Monday 1st September
On the first day we started off doing dragons quest which is problem solving and we were amazing. Then we started canoeing football which is playing football in canoes. Me, Kyle, Andrew, Alice and Lucy won. After that we had tea which was spaghetti bolognaise. When we were full we went on the giant swing and when it was me and George’s go we had to wait (being dangled in the air) for some stupid rope problem! Then we took a nice smooth zip wire ride 20m high!

Day 2 Tuesday 2nd September
We started off doing Dragon’s quest and trapeze which I caught – of course! Then we had ravioli for lunch then we went caving and I got lost! After that we had to get over the ferocious piranhas (I was first to cross the pole!). Then we got doughnuts and a potato/pizza then we did team challenge. In team challenge we found out that Kevin Keegan’s sacked. The assistants overall age is 66! Then we lost the egg fly. At night I had a dreadful night. I had a HUGE cold and had to press the call button twice.

Day 3 Wednesday 3rd September
We woke up on the last day to do archery. I was moderately good. I hit the bulls eye once (only once!). After archery we sang freaky songs with Ridge, then we pretended to be monkeys and did the obstacle course. When we did the night line I felt sick but it was pretty impressive. I ended it off by forgetting my camera!

November 17th

We have a very busy week ahead of us. This is of course Book Week, when we shall be enjoying books of all kinds and sharing our enjoyment with others. In particular, the children will share a favourite book with their chums and I'm sure they will have a stimulating time discussing them. Wednesday will see us selling our Enterprise work, so please come along and support all the classes and their efforts. You will have to be there to find out what we have been making!

This week we also start the term's class talks. The children (and parents) have all been working hard, I'm sure, to prepare and practise a talk about "My World", which is of course linked with our topic for the term. They have been asked to think about what constitutes their own world, whether it be within the family, the town or a wider view of their world. I hope to hear some interesting, diverse and entertaining ideas.

November 10th

Last week saw the initial meeting for the children to begin their work in Literature Circles for the session. This will now continue for another 5 weeks and will take us almost to the end of term. The children were all very excited to find out which book they will be reading and which would be their first "job" for the group. I think it says it all, that when I decided to start this two days earlier than planned, on Monday rather than Wednesday, there was a great cheer from the whole class!

On Wednesday, we shall be visiting Dynamic Earth to enrich their learning of our project for the term. This is a great opportunity for the children to experience the way the earth has evolved over millions of years, using all their senses. They will also have workshops in the Education Centre focusing on earth movements, which brings home the power of earthquakes and volcanoes. I'm sure they will gain a deeper understanding of these topics through this visit.

November 3rd

We are back in our routine very quickly after the holiday, which seems as far away as ever. I hope you managed a good break despite the weather!

I look forward to meeting you all this week and discussing a variety of matters concerning your child. Although I have met quite a few of you already through the Introductory Evening and Shared Start, it will be good to get to know you better.

During the week, the author Joan Lingard has kindly offered to visit the school and speak to the children. I'm sure they will enjoy meeting her and have some interesting questions to ask. Her books are always well worth reading and one of them will feature in our Literature Circles later this term.
